The ordinary is the extraordinary

There isn’t a single definition of art. Within its vast unknown, we seem to find our place. It is a deeply personal space—accessible to all for communication and interpretation. Art feels like the remnants of us, serving as a guide—a tool that inspires, challenges, and heals. It is the story we once heard, told, or imagined. It embodies the way we do whatever it is we do, hidden behind our dedication to embracing vulnerability in the face of fear. It acts as a counterbalance, revealing the ordinary as extraordinary.

May this tool serve as a reminder to stay curious and open, to find wonder in every aspect of existence. In our hands lies the ability to take our time—to perceive, to appreciate the dual nature of life. Art begins in the space we hold between the self and the action. Within this delicate pause, we can witness the essence of our experience. Through art, we leave behind our doubts, our failures, and the small memories that once defined us. The result can be rewarding, but often, the true reward lies in the path we take simply to complete our piece.

We should not primarily seek to create; rather, we should seek to understand, appreciate, pause, and cultivate a bit of distance between ourselves and our actions. Too often, there is a palpable pressure to constantly produce something new, something better. Yes, this is part of growth and learning, but let’s not forget that art is not just about the result. It resides in the process—in the space between our darkness and our light—a space of dedicated practice and contemplation.

I write this as “We” because so many of us are drawn to explore—to seek, to wonder, to connect, and to draw out beauty from all the mess.
